Lead Quality Control Technician

Perform a wide variety of quality control duties to assist in maintaining department efficiencies at maximum output levels. Work with Department Supervisor and support all assigned employees and equipment requirements during your respective shift. You'll spend 85% of time on the floor.

 

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Conduct routine quality inspections of semi-finished, finished, and/or printed product to ensure all products meet established specifications
  • Compare the physical characteristics of components, materials, equipment, and products to technical specifications to identify defects
  • Conduct tests, record results, prepare reports and communicate changes that should be made improve quality
  • Assist in third party audits
  • Recognize trends, analyze data, perform root cause analysis and statistical process control (SPC) and recommend solutions
  • Coordinate with Department Supervisor to review and maintain schedules to ensure resources are available to meet schedule. Ensure that accurate information is reported and the appropriate paperwork is completed and turned in
  • Audit the floor as required by Leader Standard Work, monitor quality metrics, verify adherence to procedures and standard work, correct deficiencies and escalate to supervisor as necessary
  • Communicate with oncoming shifts about any problems or issues that are occurring. Work with other departments to maintain or improve communications
  • Notify supervisor immediately and recommend solutions if there are issues that will prevent achievement of efficiency goals
  • Actively support Operational Excellence and effectively participate in lean initiatives

Core Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • High School Diploma or GED and at least one (1) year of related quality control experience working in a fast-paced work environment
  • Understanding of and ability to apply statistical process control (SPC), analytic skills, root cause analysis, repeat and reliability methodologies.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create reports, documents, and spreadsheets in MS Word and MS Excel

 

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree
  • Prior training experience
  • Previous experience in a Lead role 
  • Experience using Quality Management System, SAP is a plus
