Dart Container is searching for a Paper Operations Supervisor in Chicago, IL at the biggest of Dart’s paper plants! If you love to work with machinery and equipment, you will feel like a kid in a candy shop walking into work every morning! You will supervisor a team of engineers that specialize in paper converting and work on projects to ensure our equipment and processes are as efficient as possible to manufacture top quality paper products in support of both Dart Container and Solo Cup product lines. Your team will contribute to new machine builds leading to new business based on the strong influx of market interest in renewable materials.

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Consult or negotiate with company and external customers regarding project specifications, resources, timelines, costs, and other relevant information
  • Direct the research, analysis, design, specifications, reliability, troubleshooting, and implementation of products, processes, components, assemblies, and equipment
  • Manage the process for obtaining supplier quotes, process and product requirements, and specifications
  • Manage new facility development or changes to existing facilities including equipment layout, ergonomics, job tasks, work methods, and production metrics
  • Manage the coordination to acquire internal and external equipment for new or existing production lines
  • Manage performance metrics; failure, analysis, and corrective action procedures; equipment capacities and risks; and other engineering solutions to ensure consistency across all facilities
  • Evaluate, recommend, and acquire software or other required tools and technology
  • Research and implement cost savings opportunities for the company and external customer

 

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in engineering or related field of study and six (6) years of related experience, OR
    • Associate’s degree and twelve (12) years of related engineering experience
  • Two (2) years of demonstrated technical leadership
  • Proven experience and success in analyzing production equipment, processes and materials, and solving issues
  • Advanced knowledge of paper converting equipment and processes or similiar 
  • Advanced knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the development of technical plans, documents, and models
  • Advanced knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary in order to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to explain difficult issues
  • 25-40% domestic and international travel annually 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport
