Summary:
Process Technician I:
Entry-level technician responsible for assisting in the assembly, installation, set-up, operation, testing, and troubleshooting of production equipment to ensure that machines are running at optimum efficiency.
Process Technician II:
Responsible for assembly, installation, set-up, operation, testing, and troubleshooting of production equipment to ensure that machines are running at optimum efficiency.
Day-to-Day Role:
Process Technician I:
- Develop knowledge of processes, equipment, materials, and products
- Set-up, operate, test, and participate in troubleshooting production equipment
- Adhere to established tolerances and adjust machinery as required
- Read and interpret basic drawings, schematics, and bills of material
- Diagnose and repair basic mechanical equipment and instruments
- Operate power and manual hand tools
- Monitor instruments and equipment and collect operating data including calibration, inspection, testing, and repair activities to assist in making adjustments to instruments and equipment
- Fabricate and assemble new or modified mechanical components and machinery
- Provide technical support to engineers or higher level technicians to achieve improvements in cycle-time, yield, unit cost, quality, safety and compliance of production and operations processes
- Assist with maintaining an adequate spare parts inventory and ordering new or replacement parts
- Collaborate with production personnel and other departments to gather information and draft reports, and improve equipment, processes, and products
Process Technician II:
- Set-up, operate, test, and troubleshoot moderately complex production equipment
- Adhere to established tolerances and adjust machinery as required
- Read and interpret drawings, schematics, and bills of material
- Diagnose and repair moderately complex mechanical equipment and instruments
- Operate power and manual hand tools
- Monitor instruments and equipment and collect operating data including calibration, inspection, testing, and repair activities to assist in making adjustments to instruments and equipment
- Devise, fabricate, assemble, and disassemble new or modified mechanical components and machinery
- Provide technical support to engineers to achieve improvements in cycle-time, yield, unit cost, quality, safety and compliance of production and operations processes
- Maintain an adequate spare parts inventory and order new or replacement parts
- Collaborate with production personnel and other departments to gather information and draft reports, and improve equipment, processes, and products
- Mentor other team members

Core Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidates must possess all of the following:
Process Technician I:
- High school diploma or equivalent and technical training or experience in manufacturing equipment and processes, mechanical or machine maintenance and installation
- Proficiency in using powered and manual hand tools such as soldering iron, multimeter, wrench, hammer, screwdriver, etc.
- Math skills to include decimals and fractions
- Ability to read and understand technical documentation such as manuals, catalogues, schematics, or prints
- Familiar with production tooling and equipment and testing equipment
- Ability to learn and understand production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of products
- Good verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes
Process Technician II:
- Requires one of the following:
- Associate’s degree with an emphasis in a mechanical or manufacturing process program and one (1) year of manufacturing equipment and processes, mechanical or machine maintenance and installation experience, OR
- High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of manufacturing equipment and processes, mechanical or machine maintenance and installation experience
- Proficiency in using powered and manual hand tools such as soldering iron, multimeter, wrench, hammer, screwdriver, etc.
- Math skills to include decimals and fractions
- Ability to read and understand blueprints or drawings such as manuals, catalogues, schematics, or prints
- Prior experience troubleshooting and repairing production tooling and equipment and testing equipment
- Understanding of production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of products
- Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes
Physical Demands, Work Environment and Other Requirements:
Process Technician I:
- Up to 50% domestic travel depending on department or team
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Requires a valid driver’s license and favorable motor vehicle report upon hire
- Requires the ability to obtain a set of basic personal hand tools, including but not limited to wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, etc.
- The majority of work is performed in a production facility
- Exposure to extreme heat, loud noise, dirt, dust, odors, and fumes is probable
- Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in required areas
- Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
- Frequently push, pull, walk, sit, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and work overhead
- Use fine motor skills to operate hand and power tools
- Frequently lift, carry and/or move at least 50 pounds
- May be required to ascend and descend ladders
Process Technician II:
