Day-to-Day Role:

  • Supervises the quality and quantity of product being produced by employees.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates hour requirements for completion of job assignments.
  • Establishes or adjust work procedures to meet production.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product. Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists staff in solving problems.
  • Maintains production records and ensures production workers are completing records correctly and timely.
  • Writes and issues Standard Operating Procedures. Interprets company policies to employees and enforces safety regulations and procedures.
  • In absence of higher management, determines when equipment should be shut down and manages emergency and life threatening situations. Determines course of action.
  • Manages, evaluates and trains staff by coaching, conducting performance appraisals, administering corrective action, training and development by on-the-job programs and appropriate off-the-job programs. Analyzes and recommends manpower requirements, recommends qualifications and individuals for hire.
  • Maintains continuous improvement of work processes through the application of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Coordinates work of outside vendors.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues
  • Ability to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to work weekends as needed
  • Five (5) years of supervisor experience in a plastic manufacturing environment
  • Three (3) years of experience working with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Three (3) years of experience providing training or presentations to a group
  • Ability to work with individuals or groups
  • Strong communication, leadership and organizational skills
  • Math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Utilizes a "hands on" style of management.
  • Ability to conduct employee shift meetings

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Background in lean manufacturing or other continuous improvement environment
  • Five (5) years of supervisor experience
  • Preferred SAP experience
