Day-to-Day Role:


  • Reads and reviews daily production schedule, performs necessary line checks and assist with all types of changeovers including size and imprint changes on press.

  • Operates printing equipment as directed by supervisor or shift lead.

  • Maintains accurate and timely production and quality records.

  • Monitors press output and visually inspects product for defects and quality issues.

  • Loads and unloads paper rolls, mount and shaft rolls, thread machine, maintain correct ink levels, colors and chemistry.

  • Makes necessary adjustments to ensure proper registration and maintain strict quality performance.

  • Meets set-up reduction requirements by pre-staging plate cylinders, inks, paper and other necessary supplies and equipment.

  • Follows up after setups to ensure washed plates and inks are returned to designate areas
    maintains all materials, tools, and supplies in a clean and orderly manner and follow all safety, sanitation and product safety procedures and policies.

  • Fills in for operators and helpers as required on all presses including wash-ups, plant changes, and ink-up print checks, set impressions and set register.

  • Understands and operates all features of press functions.

  • Assists lower level operators in solving quality and production problems.

  • Assists in training new Press Operators.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Collects and inspects random samples during print runs to identify any necessary adjustments.

  • Examines job orders to determine quantities to be printed, stock specifications, colors, or special printing instructions.

  • Verifies that paper and ink meet the specifications for a given job.

  • Starts presses and pull proofs to check for ink coverage and density, alignment, and registration.

  • Changes press plates, blankets, or cylinders, as required.

  • Obtains or mixes inks and fill ink fountains.

  • Loads presses with paper and make necessary adjustments, according to paper size.

  • Feeds paper through press cylinders and adjust feed and tension controls.

  • Secures printing plates to printing units and adjust tolerances.



Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • One (5) year experience operating printing Flexo Press and/or an Offset Printer
  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues

  • Ability to work overtime as needed

  • Ability to perform press set-ups and basic press maintenance

  • Ability to multi task

  • Ability to work in a fast pace environment

  • Computer skills including familiarity with computerized production systems

  • Ability to work every other weekend

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Trade school or associates degree in Flexographic Printing

  • Experience with Aquaflex or Kidder presses
