Manage the entire supply chain within a large facility containing multiple, complex operations with 600+ employees, potentially spanning multiple buildings, including truck fleet, production and materials planning, purchasing, warehouse and distribution operations.  Maintain focus on meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for safety, quality, production, maintenance, efficiency, and service.

 

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Foster a culture that embraces safety as the number one overriding priority. Promote and comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Identify opportunities for improvement in safety performance
  • Comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
  • Motivate staff using innovative management techniques to ensure that all departments meet or exceed safety, cost, quality, service and efficiency metrics.
  • Establish an environment that encourages employee engagement, participation and teamwork within and between all departments
  • Recommend, develop and implement new and improved operations and processes, all with a committed focus on safety, quality, service and cost
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate the transportation operations within the facility to provide transportation services
  • Manage the flow of work and materials within or between departments of an establishment according to production schedule
  • Manage activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, material requirements planning, controlling inventory, warehousing, or receiving
  • Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain factors, such as product cost or quality
  • Lead continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
  • Identify and recommend short- and long-term business strategies
  • Monitor KPI’s anticipating and correcting trends which would compromise achievement of targets
  • Understand, support and follow management expectations in alignment with company values
  • Plan, direct, manage, and coordinate work activities of staff 
  • Responsible for employee development, discipline, performance appraisals, and administration of policies 
  • Review staff levels to ensure they are adequate, and resources are effectively allocated to meet short- and long-term objectives 
  • Accountable for overall employee engagement, talent assessment and employee relations
  • Make recommendations regarding staffing decisions

 

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain or related field with Seven (7) years of distribution/shipping operations management or leadership assignments demonstrating a progression of increased scope and responsibility, or
  • Seven (7) years’ supervisory experience required with strong leadership and management skills in a high-volume warehouse and/or distribution center
  • Advanced knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, cost analysis and budgeting, people management, and leadership guidance
  • Displays strong interpersonal skills and is accessible and approachable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary in order to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams
  • Ability to utilize business sense and creativity to develop new ideas, approaches and solutions
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems Advanced knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create basic reports, documents, presentations and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
  • Organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadline
  • Demonstrated project management experience
  • Production planning, materials planning, and purchasing experience required

 

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • SAP and/or equivalent production and logistics software experience 
  • Lean manufacturing experience
