This role will be the link for ensuring the implementation of Dart’s Quality System in the facility; along with enriching our efficiencies in quality, safety, and service, linking the mission, strategy, and processes of the organization to the Manufacturing strategy.

We are looking for you to serve as plant technical expert on quality assurance, process improvement tools, and problem solving. Overall, you will help us continue to achieve our goals and to remain the leader in setting the Industry Standard of Excellence.

In addition to your knowledge and technical expertise we are looking for your leadership skills to enable and encourage strong cross-functional collaboration between the CQA, other plant locations and the broader organization to share best practices. Your leadership will help proactively identify areas of opportunity to add value for Dart and to our customers. 

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Ensures the quality system is effectively implemented including all prerequisite programs (e.g. BRC, HACCP, product safety and security, traceability, pest control, etc.) and leads the development of “audit ready at any time” philosophy within the plant.  Plant lead for all audit activity
  • Analyzes nonconforming materials and complaint data to identify improvement opportunities.  Exerts leadership within the facility to ensure that teams and activities are identified to address root causes of failures.  Monitors the effectiveness of actions taken and initiates further action when previous actions are found ineffective
  • Resource for material and new product trials within the plant
  • Develops procedures, work instructions and visual standards as needed to drive improvement and ensures implementation
  • Assist in identifying and developing audit/inspection criteria which are effective in preventing or controlling deficient or problematic processes
  • Direct the work, plan and approve resources, quality project plans and schedules
  • Drive the execution of continuous improvement plans that affect efficiency, quality, safety, or service
  • Analyze technology trends, market demands, feasibility, costs, and customer demand that may affect quality
  • Assist executive management in developing long-range quality plans and goals  

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s and Four (4) years of quality related experience
    • Associates and Eight (8) years of quality related experience
    • High school diploma or equivalent and Twelve (12) years quality related experience
  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience
  • Experience with SAP
  • ASQ certification
  • Demonstrated mastery in quality methods, procedures, and processes
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, cost analysis and budgeting, people management, and leadership guidance
  • Ability to utilize and train employees on technology, processes and procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to communicate difficult issues
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Experience using various statistical and quality methodologies including but not limited to Statistical Process Control (SPC), Statistical Quality Control (SQC), 5S, 8D, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Analysis, Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R), and Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Math skills to include algebra and statistics
  • Advanced knowledge of products, materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products
  • Up to 15% domestic and international travel
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to obtain and maintain formal certifications American Society of Quality Certified Engineer, Certified Quality Auditor, or Certified Quality Manager
  • 6 Sigma Black Belt Certification
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
