Day-to-Day Role:

  • Establish an environment to support maximum efficiencies and quality in a safe workplace
  • Accountable for the plant efficiency and quality results
  • Maintain a culture where company policies and procedures, government and administrative regulations, and approved customer requirements are both supported and effectively implemented
  • Assure plants meet all regulatory requirements, with support from Corporate
  • Assist Plant Managers with the identification of problem or potential problem areas, the development of problem solving action plans, and oversight of timely plan implementation
  • Coordinate economic evaluations of plant specific capital expenditure proposals, including production space, production equipment, warehouse space, availability of utilities, etc., and communication of resource requirements, with justification, to management. Some capital expenditure approval authority, up to stated limits
  • Participate in legal proceedings, as required
  • Perform special plant related projects, as assigned

Leadership/Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • May plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of staff 
  • Responsible for employee development, discipline, performance appraisals, and administration of policies 
  • Review staff levels to ensure they are adequate and resources are effectively allocated to meet short- and long-term objectives 
  • Make recommendations regarding staffing decisions


Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • High School diploma or Bachelor degree with an emphasis in Paper Engineering or related field of study
  • Seven (7) years of management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Five (5) years of experience in paper manufacturing/paper engineering
  • Ability to streamline processes, integrate, and associate pieces of information gathered from multiple sources and apply to projects
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create basic reports, documents, presentations and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
  • Ability to utilize business sense and creativity to develop new ideas and solutions
  • Ability to think strategically and see how parts interact with the big picture
  • Proven analytical problem solver 
  • Willingness to move forward with incomplete information
  • Ability to calculate, analyze, and interpret mathematical and statistical information such as percent differences, ratios, median, mean, weighted average, regression, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes
  • Ability to communicate on a frequent basis with personnel at all levels of the organization
  • Up to 60% domestic travel
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Requires a favorable motor vehicle report upon hire
  • Additional work hours including weekends and holidays as required


Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • SAP experience
