Lead Maintenance Mechanic

Lead overall department maintenance personnel in preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of all production and auxiliary equipment used in the assigned production department. Assist maintenance supervisor/manager in overseeing maintenance personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of equipment.


Day-to-Day Role:

  • Complete all weekly/monthly Safety requirements for Group Leads.
  • Follow practices and processes intended to provide safe products that comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality standards, and serve the needs of our customers. This includes a commitment to a process of continuous improvement.
  • Assist maintenance supervisor/manager in prioritizing, directing/coordinating the activities of all departmental personnel with full accountability for results in terms of established standards/policies related to quality, quantity, costs, methods and provides training as needed. 
  • Plan and layout work, using the SAP maintenance software system, including assign, instruct, direct and assist employees. Assist maintenance supervisor/manager with developing preventative maintenance and services schedules. Run daily SAP compliance reports and assist mechanics in resolution of work order concerns.
  • Assist maintenance supervisor/manager in coordinating improvements/modifications to present equipment and assist in the installation of new equipment. Help design fabrication projects, oversee installation of new equipment and daily breakdown repairs.
  • Coordinate new, and current employee training and assist with annual evaluations.
  • Provide maintenance supervisor/manager with performance information for employee evaluations, and recommendations for terminations, hiring, and pay adjustments.
  • Maintain equipment, work areas, and departmental cleanliness in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) policies, and eliminate safety hazards.
  • Monitor all necessary department supplies, and place orders through the SAP requisition process.
  • Work closely with department management team to assist in securing short and long-term goals.
  • Perform backup duties for all positions under the supervisor/manager in times when scheduled personnel are not available.



Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to work weekends as needed.
  • Three (3) years of maintenance experience required.



Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of electrical experience preferred.
  • SAP experience preferred.
