The Network Engineer's role is to administer and support Dart's global data communications network.  The position includes participation in the design, development, installation, proactive monitoring, optimization, maintenance and support of all network hardware, software, policies, procedures and associated systems.

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Deploy and maintain WAN, LAN, Wireless, Voice and Video solutions and networks including servers, routers, switches, gateways and related hardware
  • Troubleshoot escalated issues to identify and repair complex network issues for WAN, LAN, Voice, Video, Internet connections and end-user issues
  • Communicate and coordinate network maintenance, operational status, and downtime to users and management
  • Aid in the development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, and maintain current knowledge of plan executables
  • Respond to emergency network outages in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans
  • Perform analysis of network needs and contribute to design of network architecture, integration, and installation
  • Participate as a contributor in the implementation of projects, taking direction from Network Architects, Senior Engineers and/or project leads
  • Prepare and maintain documentation of network standards, configurations, procedures and cabling layouts
  • Interact with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and services
  • Provide guidance and instruction to other members of the team
  • Monitor and identify network capacity and performance issues to maximize efficiency of company communication systems
  • Perform system and equipment audits
  • Recommend network design changes based upon system review, test results, monitoring data and company requirements

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in computer science, information systems, or related field of study and five (5) years of experience within the last seven (7) years working in a multi-network, multi-protocol environment
    • High school diploma or equivalent and seven (7) years of experience within the last nine (9) years working in a multi-network, multi-protocol environment
  • Requires one of the following:
    • Cisco CCNA certification or eight (8) years of network routing and switching experience
  • Detailed knowledge of OSPF/EIGRP/Spanning Tree protocols
  • Working knowledge of BGP protocol
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience in one or more of the following areas: Routing and Switching, Security, Wireless, Data Center, Video/Voice
  • Strong understanding of network QoS methods, markings and mitigation strategies
  • Ability to conduct research across a wide range of networking, telephony, video, security and wireless issues
  • Ability to use Network Sniffers and analyze data to resolve network issues
  • Ability to operate tools, components, peripherals, and testing equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and procedure manuals
  • Ability to analyze network performance data to identify trends and potential problems, and support recommendations to modify and/or upgrade network equipment or services
  • Ability to maintain composure and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-focused work environment characterized by rapid change, minimal lead times, and multiple competing priorities
  • Ability to effectively investigate and resolve issues starting with limited information
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision
  • Ability to collaborate with team members
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on listening and questioning
  • Ability to articulate technical and non-technical information to personnel with varying levels of technical knowledge
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Up to 25% domestic and international travel
  • Requires a valid driver's license and favorable motor vehicle report upon hire
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport
  • Availability to be on call 24/7 as part of an on-call rotation

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Cisco CCNP certification, preferred
  • Cisco Nexus/Data Center deployment/operation experience
  • Large scale, multi-site WiFi deployment/WLC/Cisco Prime experience
  • Cisco ASA/AnyConnect/ACS/ISE/IPS experience
  • Cisco ISR/3845/3850/3750/2960 experience
  • Cisco Call Manager/Unity/UCS experience
  • Practical experience cabling and wiring systems, topologies, design, and installation
