Accounts Payable Clerk

The Accounts Payable Clerk is responsible for processing of accounts payable invoices and customer receipts in a high volume environment.

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Enter and post standard cash receipts into accounting software system
  • Application of standard customer deposits via lockboxes, ACH and live checks to customer accounts; coding deductions as needed for credit
  • Work with accounts receivable and credit departments to reconcile deductions with checks and credit memos
  • Research unidentified dollar amounts/payments and resolve them
  • Prepare daily deposits done with ITMS scanner.
  • Data entry of standard accounts payable invoices into the accounting software system
  • Review and maintain Goods Receipt/Invoice Receipt balances, research issues and communicate with buyers to make necessary adjustments to purchase orders
  • Verify outgoing checks for accuracy
  • Scan and index invoices into an electronic storage system
  • Validate MasterData for vendor payment terms and methods, addresses and banking information
  • Maintain spreadsheets for logging of daily processing results
  • Identify and resolve straight-forward issues independently.  Escalate more complex issues for timely resolution

Core Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook (or similar email product)
  • MS Excel skills to include the ability to create and generate spreadsheets, formulas, such as vlookups, graphs and pivot tables.
  • Math skills to include simple addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and percentages
  • Proficiency with 10-key calculator and keyboarding
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
  • Ability to identify issues, compare data, investigate and resolve discrepancies

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Six (6) months of data entry experience
  • SAP experience
