Accounts Payable Specialist

Responsible for entering into the accounting system the accounts payable invoices, credit memos and accounts receivable customer payments for a high volume, fast paced environment.
Hourly Rate: $16.50 - $18.50 (based on experience)
Day-to-Day Role:
- Perform daily processes and controls accurately, efficiently and reliably, ensuring compliance with company policies
- Enter data for accounts payable invoices, credit memos, manual check requests and accounts receivable transactions into the accounting software system
- Understand general ledger accounts and cost centers to know how/where to code invoices properly
- Apply high attention to detail to methodically review the execution of procedures and identify issues
- Work with internal staff, vendors and customers to reconcile differences and facilitate payments
- Identify and resolve straight-forward issues independently, escalate more complex issues
- Perform analysis and complete research as requested
- Open, organize and distribute department mail daily
- Provide ad hoc reporting and documentation as requested
- Apply standard customer deposits via lockboxes, ACH and live checks to customer accounts; code deductions as needed for credit
- Work with credit department to reconcile customer deductions, over-payments and cash in advance transactions
- Research unidentified dollar amounts/payments and resolve them
Core Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Accounts Payable (AP) or Accounts Receivable (AR) experience
- Knowledge of vendor purchase order three way match
- Computer and various software platform experience, including but not limited to Microsoft 365 Office
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills to include the ability to create and generate spreadsheets using basic formulas
- Ability to work in a team setting and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Organizational skills including the ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- SAP experience
