Dart Container Corporation is seeking a go-getter to join our Enterprise Systems team as a Backup and Recovery Engineer! Day-to-Day Role:

  • Plan, design, test, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot a variety of enterprise backup systems
  • Assist in research on relevant technology products, services, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the backup industry
  • Proactively manage space requirements for backup environments across the company
  • Perform the database application level backups and restores of Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and Progress databases
  • Perform the application level backups and restores of a robust Microsoft Exchange environment
  • Responsible for the safety of the backed-up data including the servers and backup media
  • Monitor the performance of all backup systems and respond to issues and incidents by troubleshooting to resolve the problem
  • Recommend, schedule and perform backup system improvements, upgrades, patches, and fixes
  • Lead the development and maintenance of the backup and recovery responsibilities of the business continuity and Disaster Recovery plans
  • Configure backup servers and hosts to ensure smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes
  • Provide training and relevant document for support personnel including Help Desk, Computer Technicians, Trainers, internal/external customers, and management
  • Provide mentorship for other team members

 

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in computer science, information systems, or related field of study and three (3) years of related IT work experience within the last seven (7) years, OR
    • High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of related IT work experience within the last seven (7) years
  • Three (3) years of experience within the last five (5) years managing backups in a large multi-server environment
  • Three (3) years of experience managing backup software and related infrastructure such as Commvault, NetBackup, Networker, or IBM Tivoli Storage Manager
  • Three (3) years of experience with managing storage technologies such as EMC, IBM, NetApp, or Hitachi
  • Three (3) years of backup experience in an environment with virtualization such as VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, or KVM
  • Experience configuring and scheduling backup jobs  to complete in  an allotted time
  • Experience within several disciplines such as server infrastructure, virtualization, cloud services, networking, security, and storage
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with current Linux or Microsoft server technologies
  • Demonstrated success with coordinating and completing multiple tasks within and across departments to meet changing deadlines
  • Highly self-motivated and directed with proven ability to work alone and collaborate with project teams to meet customer expectations
  • Strong customer service orientation and a strong desire to be a part of a team that contributes to the goals of the company
  • Proven experience mentoring other team members
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary in order to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to explain difficult technical issues
  • Strong interpersonal skills such as listening, decision making, negotiation, and conflict resolution
  • Ability to calculate, analyze, and interpret mathematical and statistical information such as percent differences, ratios, median, mean, weighted average, and regression
  • Up to 25% domestic and international travel
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport
  • Requires a favorable motor vehicle report upon hire
  • Additional work hours including weekends, holidays, and on-call as required
  • Ability to lift equipment up to 50 lbs 
  • Ability to work in a Data Center environment where there is steady air conditioning flow and increased noise levels due to power and cooling equipment

 

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience managing Commvault
  • Experience with image level restores to support Disaster Recovery efforts
  • Experience with public Cloud such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services
