Commercial Finance Manager

As a Commercial Finance Manager, you will:

  • Work with the Finance team to provide accurate cost data in the development of pricing for new and existing customers
  • Assist and potentially lead in-depth financial analysis, build financial models, and develop fact-based recommendations to help business teams make informed business decisions
  • Build, implement, and assist the financial forecasting process for commercial Business Teams and assist the process on an annual and quarterly basis integrating it into other Dart processes (e.g. Integrated Business Planning)
  • Support leadership on financial planning and analysis (FP&A) and reporting for commercial team, analyzing P&L results and trends, and assessing opportunities and risks
  • Understand financial operations of the business and collaborate with cross-functional leaders to monitor budget adherence and provide consultation about the financial performance of your respective area
  • Collaborate with leadership to create annual financial goals and budgets including revenue, gross margin, COGS, price, and portfolio mix aligned to strategic priorities.
  • Proactively develop and share with the Business Teams, profit improvement ideas such as cost reductions, SKU rationalizations, and pricing and trade spend actions


The Commercial Finance Manager will work out of our Mason, Michigan headquarters reporting to the Commercial Finance Director.  From our humble beginnings in the 1960s, we've grown our Mason campus footprint and now offer employees an onsite fitness center, recycling facilities, mile-long wellness walkway between buildings, and more.  


Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal Candidate must possess all the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field
  • Two (2) years of experience with an emphasis on commercial financial planning, P&L, accounting, budget management, financial forecasting, and pricing strategies.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience with strong leadership and management skills developing high-performing and effective teams.
  • Ability to think strategically and demonstrate collaboration skills with all functional areas of an organization, including Supply Chain, Finance/Accounting, IT, Strategy, Sales, and Marketing
  • Strong business acumen needed to make business decisions based on financial analysis, forecasts and models
  • Basic knowledge of and experience working with financial and accounting statements, concepts and principles, especially income statements and various ROI methodologies (NPV, IRR, and payback).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to persuade and influence decision- making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to explain complex issues to a variety of audiences
  • Planning and organizational skills necessary to coordinate workload around multiple projects and competing priorities
  • Comfortable working in an ambiguous and fluidly changing environment
  • Ability to recognize all relevant issues, and their relative importance, when making decisions
  • High level of personal and professional integrity and trustworthiness with a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create professional reports, documents, presentations and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
  • Plan, direct, supervise and coordinate work activities of staff.
  • Responsible for employee development, discipline, performance appraisals, and administration of policies
  • Make recommendations regarding staffing decisions
  • Up to 5% domestic travel

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with SAP processes, tools, and techniques for exploring, reporting and evaluating financial statements, alternative financial scenarios, and financial results
  • Experience in a manufacturing company
