Electrical Engineer - Hiring at Multiple Levels!

We are searching to fill multiple positions within Controls Engineering that would be responsible for applying electrical engineering knowledge and skills on projects ranging in complexity from relatively simple, quick, and requiring simple controls to others that are large, complex, and needing more complicated solutions.

We are hiring at the Associate, Mid or Senior level

This position includes up to 40% domestic and international travel. For those days not traveling, Dart employees enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work schedule, working 3 days in the office and 2 days from home as projects allow it.

Day-to-Day Role:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – ASSOCIATE LEVEL

  • Assist in creating and modifying designs and requirements for automated production equipment, electrical and hardware schematics, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) ladder logic, Human-Machine Interface (HMI), and controls software
  • Create test parameters and participate in the testing and implementation of engineering solutions
  • Develop knowledge of processes, equipment, raw materials, products, and machine and process controls
  • Document and track technical changes and/or improvements 
  • Identify broad conceptual ideas and develop them into useful solutions 
  • Support equipment debug and installations 
  • Participate in and complete projects or programs of minimal size, scope, and duration
  • Participate in troubleshooting, analysis, evaluation, implementation, and documentation of engineering solutions, electrical designs and software systems for machine and process controls
  • Perform AC and DC power requirement calculations
  • Recommend continuous improvement plans where efficiency, quality, safety, or service can be improved

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – MID LEVEL IN ADDITION TO ABOVE

  • Manage, prioritize and complete projects or programs of moderate size, scope, and duration
  • Coordinate project work with other engineers, technicians, designers and/or or drafters 
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, identify, evaluate, propose, implement, and document engineering solutions, electrical designs and software systems for machine and process controls
  • Create and modify designs and requirements for automated production equipment, electrical and hardware schematics, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) ladder logic, Human-Machine Interface (HMI), and controls software
  • Collaborate with production personnel and other departments to gather information and draft reports, and improve equipment, processes, and products
  • Establish continuous improvement plans where efficiency, quality, safety, or service can be improved
  • Mentor lower level engineers

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - SR LEVEL IN ADDITION TO ABOVE

  • Lead and coordinate project work with other engineers, technicians, designers and/or or drafters 
  • Lead the creation and modification of designs and requirements for automated production equipment, electrical and hardware schematics, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) ladder logic, Human-Machine Interface (HMI), and controls software
  • Oversee equipment debug and installations 
  • Mentor lower level engineers

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES – ASSOCIATE LEVEL

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in engineering or related field of study, OR
    • Associate’s degree and six (6) years of related engineering experience
  • Ability to learn and understand automated production equipment, electrical and hardware schematics, Ability to learn and understand raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various products
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) ladder logic, Human-Machine Interface (HMI), and controls software
  • Strong verbal and written skills necessary to communicate intricate job-related information

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES – MID LEVEL 

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in engineering or related field of study and three (3) years of related engineering experience, OR
    • Associate’s degree and six (6) years of related engineering experience
  • Ability to successfully prioritize, and organize projects, deadlines, and tasks with little supervision in both team and independent environments 
  • Experience designing, developing, implementing and troubleshooting motion control systems, including variable frequency drives and servo control 
  • Experience designing, developing, implementing and troubleshooting electrical control systems such as PLC, relay logic, and control networks, production equipment automation, and industrial controls networks
  • Experience using and programming controls software
  • Experience using HMI and Ladder Logic
  • Experience with 5S procedures
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES – SR LEVEL 

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in engineering or related field of study and six (6) years of related engineering experience, OR
    • Associate’s degree and nine (9) years of related engineering experience
  • Advanced knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Advanced knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products
  • Advanced knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various products
  • Experience designing, developing, implementing and troubleshooting complex control systems using Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) ladder logic, Human-Machine Interface (HMI), and controls software
  • Experience utilizing 5S procedures

  • Bachelor’s degree
