Electrical Technician II / III

 

Are you looking for a role in which you are able to travel and work with various groups of people? Dart Container is hiring an investigative Electrical Technician who loves to take initiative and has strong communication skills. In this role you will be traveling to Dart’s facilities regularly and collaborating with different teams at those facilities.
 

Day-to-Day Role:

Electrical Technician II 

  • Set-up, test, and troubleshoot moderately complex machine and process control systems
  • Assemble, disassemble, wire, and test electrical controls, machinery, and prototype equipment 
  • Read and interpret electrical assembly drawings, schematics, wire lists and bills of material
  • Identify and evaluate electrical and electronic components
  • Conduct bench tests on electrical and electronic controls and systems
  • Diagnose and repair moderately complex electrical and electronic controls and systems including non-routine issues
  • Operate power and manual hand tools
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers or other personnel to identify, define, or solve moderately complex problems and issues
  • Maintain an adequate spare parts inventory and order parts for new installation or replacement
  • Collaborate with production personnel and other departments to gather information and draft reports, and improve equipment, processes, and products
  • Recommend continuous improvement plans where efficiency, quality, safety, or service can be improved
  • Develop knowledge of automated production equipment, electrical and hardware schematics, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) ladder logic, Human-Machine Interface (HMI), and controls software
  • Work with moderate supervision and with complete documentation
  • Participate with engineers on projects or programs of minimal size
  • Demonstrate teamwork and respect by working constructively with co-workers and customers to achieve the best results possible

 

Electrical Technician III

  • Set-up, test, and troubleshoot complex machine and process control systems
  • Assemble, disassemble, wire, and test electrical controls, machinery and prototype equipment 
  • Read and interpret electrical assembly drawings, schematics, wire lists and bills of material
  • Identify and evaluate electrical and electronic components
  • Conduct bench tests on electrical and electronic controls and systems
  • Diagnose and repair complex electrical and electronic controls and systems including non-routine issues
  • Operate power and manual hand tools
  • Participate with engineers in troubleshooting, analysis, evaluation, implementation, and documentation of technical solutions, electrical designs and software systems for machine and process controls
  • Assist in creating and modifying designs and requirements for automated production equipment, electrical and hardware schematics, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) ladder logic, Human-Machine Interface (HMI), and controls software
  • Perform modifications and retrofits to existing electrical and pneumatic equipment
  • Draft preventative maintenance requirements
  • Participate with engineers on projects or programs of minimal size
  • Collaborate with production personnel and other departments to gather information and draft reports, and improve equipment, processes, and product
  • Recommend continuous improvement plans where efficiency, quality, safety, or service can be improved
  • Mentor other team members
  • Work with minimal supervision and minimal documentation
  • Demonstrate teamwork and respect by working constructively with co-workers and customers to achieve the best results possible

 

Leadership/Supervisor Responsibilities

  • Occasionally direct the work of others

 

Core Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:
Electrical Technician II 

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Associate’s degree with an emphasis in electronics or an electrical program and one (1) year of electrical experience, OR
    • High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of electrical experience
  • Familiar with electrical and safety standards
  • Proficiency in using powered and manual hand tools such as soldering iron, multimeter, wrench, hammer, screwdriver, etc.
  • Prior experience using testing equipment
  • Ability to understand, identify, and protect against electrical hazards
  • Ability to solve basic algebraic equations and electrical formulas, and understand decimals and fractions
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints or drawings including, but not limited to manuals, catalogues, schematics, prints or wire lists
  • Ability to learn and understand automated production equipment, electrical and hardware schematics, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) ladder logic, Human-Machine Interface (HMI), and controls software
  • Understanding of production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of products
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes
  • Ability to operate and maintain certification for mobile equipment including lifts
  • Ability to work at heights and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in required areas

 

Electrical Technician III

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Associate’s degree with an emphasis in electronics or an electrical program and three (3) years of electrical experience, OR
    • High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of electrical experience
  • Thorough understanding of electrical and safety standards
  • Proficiency in using powered and manual hand tools such as soldering iron, multimeter, wrench, hammer, screwdriver, etc.
  • Prior experience using testing equipment
  • Ability to understand, identify, and protect against electrical hazards
  • Ability to solve basic algebraic equations and electrical formulas, and understand decimals and fractions
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints or drawings including, but not limited to manuals, catalogues, schematics, prints or wire lists
  • Understanding of automated production equipment, electrical and hardware schematics, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) ladder logic, Human-Machine Interface (HMI), and controls software, experience preferred
  • Understanding of production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of products
