The Enterprise Technical Architect is responsible for the design of technical solutions for Dart Container and will focus on web-related and cloud delivered technologies.  An Enterprise Technical Architect is a senior technical leader with business acumen and technical depth to identify, develop, design and validate solutions. This role is a trusted advisor to key customer technical decision makers and will forge strong internal relationships across the organization.

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Identify and articulate the need for enterprise architecture components based on needs identified by business and technical projects, management and users
  • Manage technical research and evaluation projects for IT and with the business to determine the feasibility, suitability and performance of available solutions. Encourage and promote the use of standardized enterprise technologies. Promote shared infrastructure and applications to reduce costs and improve information flows
  • Identify existing enterprise architecture components and articulate the requirements, technologies, connections and processes related to these components via drawings, documentation and current and future-state diagrams
  • Maintain and publish detailed information about enterprise architecture components in use, as well as planned changes, long-term roadmaps, and sunset conditions and plans for each component.  Identify opportunities to proactively manage the enterprise technical component portfolio
  • Working with other IT groups and architects, identify and define technical interfaces between architectural components, layers, and responsibilities
  • Encourage and support the consideration of sustainability and total cost of ownership factors when making technology choices for the enterprise
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems.  Develop strategies for improving or further leveraging technology solutions to meet business goals
  • Maintain technical expertise, keeping current with evolving processes, systems, and technologies. Share technical knowledge with IT management and develop colleague's technical knowledge, skills and abilities through formal and informal channels
  • Recommend training, processes, tools and resources for use in implementing and supporting new and existing enterprise architectural components
  • Provide strategic consultation to business and IT management.  Research, identify and internally market enabling technologies based on customer requirements
  • Participate in significant IT projects in an architect role, helping to guide technology planning, selection, implementation and validation
  • Actively participate in Architecture Review Board duties

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Associate's degree with an emphasis in Information Technology or related field of study and five (5) years of experience in at least two (2) IT disciplines in a multi-tier environment such as network or systems management, technical architecture, middleware, database management, infrastructure, operations, or software development, OR
    • High school diploma or equivalent and ten (10) years of experience in at least two (2) IT disciplines in a multi-tier environment such as network or systems management, technical architecture, middleware, database management, infrastructure, operations, or software development
  • Two (2) years of experience with Microsoft Azure and O365 technologies
  • Experience with Data Warehouses and Data mashups
  • Experience in identifying opportunities for improvement and recommending IT solutions
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience in client/server processing, network architecture, Information Systems governance and operations
  • Comprehensive knowledge of software, application, and systems engineering
  • Knowledge of cost/benefit analysis in support of management decision
  • Strong planning and organizing skills with the ability to coordinate the actions of a technical team
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and direct the execution of tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • “Big Picture” thinking - the ability to see how parts interact with the whole
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary in order to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to explain complex technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Up to 15% domestic and international travel
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and  passport
  • Requires a favorable motor vehicle report upon hire
  • Additional work hours including weekends and evenings as required


Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or Master’s degree with an emphasis in Information Technology, Business, or related field of study
  • Software development experience
  • Experience with C#, .Net, Python, Scala, PowerShell
  • Demonstrated success presenting technical information in a clear and concise way to technical and non-technical audiences using PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • Demonstrated success creating technical drawings using Visio
