IT Project Manager

We have the flexability to hire at the Mid or Senior level for this position. 

 

You'll work a hybrid schedule of 3 days on site at our corporate office in Mason, Michigan, and up to 2 days remote.

 

The IT Project Manager will plan, execute, and finalize implementations and manage ongoing support of the Information Technology (IT) solutions after implementation.  Define project schedules and workplans, determine estimated resources and costs, and track and report status.  Effectively allocate resources, coordinate the efforts of internal and external team members and project stakeholders, mitigate risks, manage issues, and manage and control scope. 

 

Day-to-Day Role:

Essential duties and responsibilities for both levels:

  • Coach, mentor and lead project team members (IT and Dart business staff), educating each in the methodology being used and, more importantly, their role in the project's success
  • Support continuous improvement and maintenance of project management best practices at Dart
  • Work with the IT tools and services teams to continuously improve the project management tool suite and methodologies that are utilized on projects
  • Work closely with IT managers and analysts in assigning resources to projects and establishing deadlines for their completion
  • Manage multiple projects directed toward strategic business and other organizational objectives
  • Estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals
  • Support the identification, evaluation, and selection of specific projects that will be selected for completion
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management, IT analysts, and stakeholders
  • Build, develop, and grow business relationships with project stakeholders at multiple levels and multiple locations vital to the success of the project
  • Provide motivation for participants by maintaining enthusiasm and providing positive feedback throughout each project's life cycle
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle
  • Maintain continuous alignment of project scope with defined strategic business objectives
  • Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion
  • Monitor progress of projects including Identify problems impeding progress and participate in their resolution
  • Maintain frequent written and verbal communications with all stakeholders and project participants, ensuring communications are precise, concise, and understood by recipients
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical paths
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans
  • Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements

 

The Mid-level IT Project Manager will also:

  • Facilitate mutual interaction with various parties in such a way that reduces the risk of failure, maximizes benefits, and restricts costs

 

The Senior level IT Project Manager will also:

  • Audit projects to ensure that all team members are following the standard project management process.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Direct project activities to maintain progress, mutual interaction, and tasks of various parties in such a way that reduces the risk of failure, maximizes benefits, and restricts costs.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Manage the budget, schedule, scope, and quality of assigned projects.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.

 

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for the Mid-level IT Project Manager must possess all of the following:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in computer science or related field of study and two (2) years of experience as a Project Manager, OR
    • Associate’s degree with an emphasis in computer science or related field of study and three (3) years of experience as a Project Manager, OR
    • High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of experience as a Project Manager 
  • Two (2) years of experience with IT Network and Infrastructure solutions delivery and/or project management

 

The ideal candidate for the Senior IT Project Manager must possess all of the following:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in computer science or related field of study and five (5) years of experience as a Project Manager, OR
    • Associate’s degree with an emphasis in computer science or related field of study and six (6) years of experience as a Project Manager, OR 
  • Five (5) years of experience with IT Network and Infrastructure solutions delivery and/or project management

 

In addition to the above requirements, both levels also require:

  • Two (2) years of experience using Microsoft Project, Microsoft Project Server and/or a similar Project Management software
  • Experience with a range of project management methodologies including an understanding of Waterfall and Agile
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create basic reports, documents, presentations and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
  • Experience managing a team of people
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience with project planning, scheduling, tracking and reporting
  • Experience with change management, project risk mitigation, and issue management
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary in order to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to explain difficult issues
  • Successful track record of managing large projects
  • Ability to maintain composure and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-focused work environment characterized by rapid change, minimal lead times, and multiple competing priorities
  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestically
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Requires a favorable motor vehicle report upon hire
  • Additional work hours including weekends as required

 

Preferred Skills and Qualifications for both levels:

  • PMP Certification
  • SharePoint experience
  • Ability to travel internationally
