Apply hands on leadership to supervise and direct the work of technical staff to accomplish engineering projects that focus on design, development, reliability, and the most efficient utilization of equipment, materials, facilities, processes, and people in order to produce products

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Manage the coordination and overall integration of engineering projects
  • Provide direction, technical expertise, and support resources
  • Consult or negotiate with company and external customers regarding project specifications, resources, timelines, costs, and other relevant information
  • Direct the research, analysis, design, specifications, reliability, troubleshooting, and implementation of products, processes, components, assemblies, and equipment
  • Manage the process for obtaining supplier quotes, process and product requirements, and specifications
  • Manage new facility development or changes to existing facilities including equipment layout, ergonomics, job tasks, work methods, and production metrics
  • Manage the coordination to acquire internal and external equipment for new or existing production lines
  • Manage performance metrics; failure, analysis, and corrective action procedures; equipment capacities and risks; and other engineering solutions to ensure consistency across all facilities
  • Evaluate, recommend, and acquire software or other required tools and technology
  • Research and implement cost savings opportunities for the company and external customer
  • Identify broad conceptual ideas and develop them into useful solutions
  • Establish continuous improvement plans where efficiency, quality, safety, or service can be improved
  • Mentor staff
  • Supervise and direct the work of others
  • Responsible for employee development, discipline, performance appraisals, and administration of policies, and assignment of breaks, lunches, and other relief periods
  • Make overtime, hiring, firing, and pay adjustment recommendations

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in engineering or related field of study and six (6) years of related mechanical engineering experience
    • Associate's degree and twelve (12) years of related mechanical engineering experience
  • Two (2) years of demonstrated technical leadership
  • Proven experience and success in analyzing production equipment, processes and materials, and solving issues
  • Advanced knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various products
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications
  • Advanced knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the development of technical plans, documents, and models
  • Advanced knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Ability to successfully prioritize, and manage large, complex projects, deadlines, tasks, and teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary in order to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to explain difficult issues
  • Ability to travel up to 40% domestic and international annually
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport
  • Requires a valid driver's license and favorable motor vehicle report upon hire

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of EPS, plastic (thermoforming and/or injection molding), print, and/or paper equipment and processes
