Network Manager

You'll work a hybrid schedule of 3 days on site at our corporate office in Mason, Michigan, and up to 2 days remote.

 

 

Dart’s Network Manager is responsible for overall global network planning, design, installation, and daily operations.  This role is also responsible for the oversight, guidance, performance and growth of the Network team as they fulfill both project and support needs.  This role is part of the Infrastructure leadership team responsible for long-term infrastructure strategy.


Day-to-Day Role:

  • Produce written documentation for proposals, describing solutions to business problems, equipment recommendations, cost of equipment, long-term investment values and time required to fully implement the solution 
  • Design and implement short and long-term strategic plans for Dart’s network infrastructure
  • Ensure network configuration and bandwidth is maintained at a level that will meet overall performance requirements for both on premise and cloud based applications
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to team processes, procedures and support methods
  • Plan network upgrades, migrations and decommissioning of out of date hardware
  • Explore new network technologies and concepts that can contribute to longer term strategy and business needs
  • Maintain accurate records of projects, tasks, and assets by utilizing the appropriate tools and software
  • Aid in development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans while maintaining current knowledge of plan execution
  • Respond to emergency network outages according to disaster recovery plans
  • Work with IT committees/boards on design and architecture for short-term and long-term strategies
  • Assist in research on relevant technology products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the industry
  • Focus on customer service by ensuring each member of the team communicates with customers regularly to set support expectations
  • Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of staff 
  • Responsible for employee development, discipline, performance appraisals, and administration of policies 
  • Make recommendations regarding hiring, firing, and pay adjustments

 

Core Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in computer science, information systems or a related field of study and four (4) years of experience within the last eight (8) years working in a multi-network, multi protocol environment, OR
    • High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) years of experience within the last eight (8) years working in a multi-network, multi protocol environment 
  • Four (4) years of direct supervisory experience 
  • Three (3) years of experience within the last five (5) years with Cisco’s portfolio of networking products
  • Five (5) years of network support experience in a large scale IT environment
  • Five (5) years of enterprise level experience with wireless network support
  • Five (5) years of enterprise level network route/switch management
  • Four (4) years of data center operations experience
  • Three (3) years of help desk or customer service related experience
  • Ability to work within a team that is geographically disbursed to focus on inclusion of all team members
  • Ability to leverage collaborative tools in order to keep open lines of communications with team mates, and other business contacts
  • Ability to plan, design, test, implement and troubleshoot network devices and systems supported by the network team
  • Ability to identify and resolve network issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and persuasively with individuals, groups, or work teams to explain difficult technical issues and the ability to listen effectively
  • Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, and asking questions as appropriate
  • Ability to maintain composure and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-focused work environment characterized by rapid change, minimal lead times, and multiple competing priorities
  • Ability to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport
  • Requires a favorable motor vehicle report upon hire
  • Additional work hours including weekends, holidays, and on-call as required
