OTC Enterprise Architect

You'll work a hybrid schedule of 3 days on site at our corporate office in Mason, Michigan, and up to 2 days remote.


Positioned at the intersection of business and technology, the OTC Enterprise Architect (EA) is charged with helping transform our organization through crafting and enabling a holistic view of Dart's strategy, processes, data, and technology assets. 


As an OTC EA, you will serve as an internal consultant to business stakeholders, developing and utilizing a deep understanding of corporate and production business capabilities to evaluate projects, determine financial feasibility, design solutions, and make recommendations to ensure technology and service investments are targeted to meet Dart's needs and strategic goals.


You will also serve as an advocate in the EA role, partnering with our business groups to champion their most important initiatives and priorities. This involves helping peers and IT leadership to understand their goals, empowering others to support their efforts, and shepherding their projects through various processes and protocols to ensure success. 


This position will support business areas on the commercial side of the organization including, but not limited to, Marketing, eCommerce, Innovation, Customer Service, Field Sales, and Administrative Sales. These customer-facing business areas are experiencing rapid growth and increased strategic focus at Dart and require an EA with a growth mindset, appetite to learn, and deep desire to expand their domain expertise.

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Elicit, analyze, specify, and validate the needs of business stakeholders
  • Apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve systems issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments
  • Develop a good understanding of Dart’s business and production practices, evaluate requests, and make recommendations based on the evaluation
  • Act as an advocate to support or promote business peers' interests 
  • Liaise with business peers and IT staff to assist in resolving problems with processes and the associated solutions and software systems
  • Manage requests from business peers while ensuring IT is providing consultation to their requirements and aligning priorities
  • Meet with decision-makers, system/infrastructure owners and end users to define business, financial, and operation requirements and systems goals
  • Perform analysis of business or technology requirements and processes
  • Translate concepts into requirements as needed
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing processes and systems to develop strategies for improving or further leveraging technology solutions to meet business goals 
  • Participate in the evaluation of vendor software targeted for possible integration into the systems or environment, including strategic applications, tools, and utilities
  • Participate in cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions
  • Build employee knowledge and skills in specific areas of expertise 
  • Ensure confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information and adhere to company security policies
  • Collaborate with project managers and project sponsors to continually align the project with business objectives
  • Provide strategic consultation to assigned business customers to define or design business processes; engaging with stakeholders to clarify and capture business strategy and how technology will enable it
  • Research, identify and internally market enabling technologies based on customer requirements
  • Translate business and technology requirements into systems qualities and subsequently into repeatable design strategies and patterns that enable those qualities (e.g. adaptability, scalability, availability, non-repudiation, reusability)
  • Promote shared infrastructure and applications to reduce costs and improve information flows
  • Mentor other staff members as appropriate


Core Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six (6) years of experience working in a liaison role as an IT Business Relationship Manager, Enterprise Architect or performing similar job responsibilities
  • Six (6) years of experience in order processing, credit and collections, accounts receivable, pricing and trade management processes
  • Experience with software solution adoption, integration and deployment
  • Experience in customer and business facing roles
  • Demonstrated competency in strategic thinking and leadership with strong abilities in relationship management
  • Familiarity with project and program management planning including strong organizational and follow up skills
  • Financial modeling skills as it pertains to IT investment through the use of return on investment and net present value analysis
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills with strong business judgement, and the ability to learn quickly
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary in order to persuade and influence decision making of individuals, groups, or work teams, and to explain difficult issues
  • Ability to effectively present to an audience
  • Ability to connect the people, process and technologies required to deliver business solutions
  • Ability to collaborate with IT and business teams working at remote locations
  • Ability to maintain composure and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-focused work environment characterized by rapid change, minimal lead times, and multiple competing priorities
  • Ability to think strategically and see how parts interact with the big picture
  • Ability to work independent of supervision
  • Ability to travel up to 5% domestically and internationally
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport
  • Requires a favorable motor vehicle report upon hire
  • Additional work hours including weekends and holidays, as needed
  • Availability to be on call 24/7, as needed


Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience with SharePoint, PowerPoint, Excel or Visio
  • Experience with SAP, Web services, Dart specific custom applications, M365 and/or SAAS solutions
