Production Control Supervisor

This position will provide proactive leadership in supervising the activities of the Production Control Department to ensure a high level of customer service is achieved.


Day-to-Day Role

  • Promote the Safety Culture and ensure employees understand safe work practices and the requirements of environmental regulations.
  • Create and control Master Production Schedule that maximizes production capabilities while balancing demand of a rolling forecast for national distribution
  • Perform detailed capacity assessments that identify gaps and create plans to optimize utilization
  • Oversee and manage all activities performed by direct reports
  • Prepare and maintain detailed production schedules coordinated with manufacturing and sales to facilitate superior customer service
  • Coordinate product availability within the supply chain and customer service functions
  • Develop short and long term capacity models that will be used to develop budgets
  • Ensure accuracy of MRP planning and work center capacity data.
  • Maintain expertise in systems knowledge and recommend new procedures to enhance the performance of the planning and scheduling system
  • Provide scheduling and demand history reports on an as needed basis
  • Create and analyze spreadsheets, charts, graphs and reports relating to backorders, inventory, fill rates and other critical business issues
  • Responsible for evaluation of manpower labor and making recommendations for projected manpower labor needed to meet plant production goals
  • Take an active leadership role in requiring safe behaviour, identifying problem areas, and following up on corrective action
  • Provide direct reports with regular constructive performance feedback.  Correct performance problems using open, honest, and respectful methods of management
  • Review the performance and advancement potential of department personnel, making recommendations to ensure each individual receives the experience, exposure, and personal development necessary to reach departmental objectives and individual career objectives
  • Delegate responsibility and authority to subordinates as necessary for the effective operation of the department
  • Retains overall responsibility and accountability for results, as well as supplying all necessary direction regarding work objectives
  • Responsible for promoting good employee relations
  • Demonstrate teamwork and respect by working constructively with co-workers to achieve the best results possible
  • Over see the procurement process for facility


Core Skills

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or related field, and two (2) years’ of experience involving production planning and/or inventory management responsibilities
    • Associates degree in a Supply Chain Management, Logistics or related field and six (6) years’ of previous work experience involving production planning and/or inventory management responsibilities in a manufacturing setting, OR
    • Ten (10) years’ of work experience involving production planning and/or inventory management responsibilities in a manufacturing setting
  • Two (2) years’ demonstrated experience in leadership or supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes to internal and external customers
  • Ability to calculate, analyse, and interpret mathematical information such as percent differences, ratios, median, mean, weighted average, etc.
  • Ability to identify issues, compare data, investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create basic reports, documents, presentations and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
  • Ability to handle multiple people and projects in a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrate a full understanding of ERP functionality such as; MRP, capacity, or Time Fence
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport


Preferred Core Skills

  • Experience with an ERP system such as SAP or Oracle
  • APICS certification or training
  • Procurement Experience
