Summery

Responsible for inspecting quality of products and processes to ensure quality and prevent defects

Day to Day Roles for Quality Technician II

  • Monitor, validate, inspect, analyze, and test quality of products and processes
  • Investigate non-conformance issues to determine root cause and corrective action
  • Propose and implement corrective actions
  • Create, maintain, and review quality documentation
  • Capture, record, track, analyze, and report on statistical and test data and other quality related documentation
  • Recognize trends, analyze information and propose solutions to recurring problems in processes and/or equipment
  • Assist in developing inspection criteria, methods, and procedures for products and/or testing equipment
  • Assist quality technicians and engineers in developing new test methods or gauges/equipment
  • Develop production facility quality control training programs
  • Provide technical support to engineers to achieve improvements in cycle-time, yield, unit cost, quality, safety and compliance of production and operations processes
  • Collaborate with production personnel and other departments to gather information and draft reports, and improve equipment, processes, and products
  • Assist in internal or external quality audits and field investigations as needed
  • Mentor other technicians

Day to Day Roles for Quality Technician III

  • Utilize statistical and quality methodologies to participate in testing, troubleshooting, analysis, evaluation, implementation, and documentation of products and processes
  • Investigate non-conformance issues to determine root cause and corrective action
  • Propose and implement corrective actions
  • Create, maintain, and review quality documentation
  • Capture, record, track, analyze, and report on statistical and test data and other quality related documentation
  • Recognize trends, analyze information and propose solutions to complex problems in processes and/or equipment
  • Develop inspection criteria, methods, and procedures for products and/or testing equipment
  • Develop new test methods or gauges/equipment in collaboration with engineers
  • Participate with engineers in troubleshooting, analysis, evaluation, implementation, and documentation of technical solutions
  • Participate with engineers on projects or programs of minimal size, scope, and duration
  • Provide technical support to engineers to achieve improvements in cycle-time, yield, unit cost, quality, safety and compliance of production and operations processes
  • Collaborate with production personnel and other departments to gather information and draft reports, and improve equipment, processes, and products
  • Participate in internal or external quality audits and field investigations as needed
  • Recommend continuous improvement plans where efficiency, quality, safety, or service can be improved
  • Mentor other technicians

Core Skills and Qualifications for Quality Technician II

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Associate’s degree with an emphasis in a quality control or engineering and one (1) year of manufacturing equipment and processes or quality experience, OR
    • High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of manufacturing equipment and processes or quality experience
  • Ability to identify and investigate issues, recognize trends, and review, compare, and complete analysis
  • Excellent visual and color acuity required
  • Math skills to include simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, and fractions
  • Familiarity with various statistical and quality methodologies including but not limited to Statistical Process Control (SPC), Statistical Quality Control (SQC), 5S, 8D, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Analysis, Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R), and Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Understanding of production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of products
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes

Core Skills and Qualifications for Quality Technician III

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Associate’s degree with an emphasis in a quality control or engineering and three (3) years of manufacturing equipment and processes or quality experience, OR
    • High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of manufacturing equipment and processes or quality experience
  • Extensive analytical experience including investigating issues, recognizing trends, and recommending solutions to non-routine complex issues
  • Excellent visual and color acuity required
  • Math skills to include simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, and fractions
  • Experience using various statistical and quality methodologies including but not limited to Statistical Process Control (SPC), Statistical Quality Control (SQC), 5S, 8D, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Analysis, Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R), and Design of Experiments (DOE)
