Risk Analyst

The Risk Analyst is responsible for risk related support for all activities related to insurance, risk management, claims and loss prevention.

 

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Provide analysis and reporting that will facilitate the management of the company's global insurance programs and support the department's strategic initiatives
  • Assess exposure to risk and identify methods to protect the organization from losses
  • Obtain underwriting information and complete applications for insurance renewals
  • Assist management in the review of insurance and risk management programs for effectiveness of coverage and to manage insurance costs and losses
  • Manage the regulatory and compliance reporting process for claims functions and self-insured states' workers compensation filings
  • Research, recommend and implement new programs that support department strategic initiatives
  • Develop, generate and analyze new reports that facilitate department strategic initiatives
  • Administer assigned components of Risk Management’s systems, programs and processes according to established department objectives
  • Research, plan, design and implement new modules for current systems that support strategic initiatives
  • Develop and document efficient and thorough processes/procedures to support assigned activities
  • Attend conferences and training sessions (e.g. insurance and/or claims industry specialized certifications and system training)

 

Core Skills and Qualifications:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of experience in business, insurance, risk management, claims, loss prevention, or accounting, OR
    • High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of experience in business, insurance, risk management, claims, loss prevention, or accounting
  • Experience with claims management software
  • Strong project management skills and experience in managing projects
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary in order to communicate intricate job-related processes
  • Microsoft Word skills to include the ability to create reports containing graphs and other advanced functions (e.g., create templates that utilize macros, adding content controls, setting user permissions)
  • Microsoft Excel skills to include the ability to create spreadsheets (e.g., formulas such as V-lookup, graphs, pivot tables)
  • Microsoft PowerPoint skills to include the ability to create presentations and add slides, insert images, move and resize objects
  • Ability to identify issues, compare data, investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Proven analytical problem solver
  • Excellent analytical and reasoning skills with the ability to research problems independently and evaluate appropriate solutions
  • Ability to collaborate with team members
  • Ability to maintain composure and adapt in a dynamic, fast-paced, customer-focused work environment characterized by rapid change, minimal lead times, and multiple competing priorities
  • Travel up to 15% domestically
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and favorable motor vehicle report upon hire

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in business, accounting, finance or related field of study
  • Insurance, claims or risk management certification or license (e.g. ARM or AIC)
  • Experience using RiskConsole claims management software
  • Experience using Business Objects reporting software
