Service Engineer - Mid/Senior

Dart is looking to hire two Service Engineers who will be responsible for applying technical experience, engineering knowledge and specialized skills to support engineering projects and production service requests. 

This position includes 80% travel; therefore, we are looking for Engineers who love to travel and work with various groups of people. Depending on your location, we are offering a hybrid schedule or fully remote, when living outside commute distance from our corporate headquarters, for those days that you are not traveling. 

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Provide service and support to production facilities to help maintain production startups and corporate service goals
  • Lead process failure discussions and investigations to ensure consistency of solutions across all facilities
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic controls and systems including non-routine issues this could include PLC controls and/or basic program troubleshooting
  • Coordinate design requirement review and other project work with appropriate engineering personnel to ensure compatibility of processing methods
  • Use in-depth professional knowledge, acumen, concepts, and company objectives to develop and resolve models and procedures
  • Provide solutions to issues in creative and effective ways. Understand the interrelationships of different engineering disciplines. Direct the application of existing principles and guide development of new policies and ideas
  • Determine methods and procedures for new assignments ensuring alignment with company objectives
  • Exercise judgment in selecting methods, adapting complex techniques, and evaluating criteria for obtaining results 
  • Proactively prepare structured documentation of activity reports and proposals utilizing clear and concise communication
  • Create, coordinate and/or review technical drawings, blueprints, schematics or specifications and document engineering solutions
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for equipment processes
  • Operate instruments, track test results, and troubleshoot when problems arise
  • Possess a high degree of communication and follow up with customers and appropriate engineering and manufacturing leadership
  • Create test parameters and participate in the testing, data analysis, and implementation of processes, equipment, and engineering solutions 
  • Identify broad conceptual ideas and develop them into useful solutions
  • Establish continuous improvement plans where efficiency, quality, safety, or service can be improved
  • Work with independence and authority to make technical decisions
  • Set goals, KPIs, project deadlines, and monitor day to day performance to goals and KPIs


  • May lead and direct work of other technical resources

Core Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess the following:

Mid-Level Service Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in engineering or related field of study and three (3) years of related engineering experience, OR
  • Associate’s degree and six (6) years of related engineering experience, OR
  • High school diploma or equivalent and twelve (12) years of related and demonstrated production support experience

Senior Level Service Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in engineering or related field of study and six (6) years of related engineering experience, OR
  • Associate’s degree and twelve (12) years of related engineering experience, OR
  • High school diploma or equivalent and fourteen (14) years of related and demonstrated production support experience

Both Mid and Senior Level:

  • Demonstrated experience analyzing complex production systems, processes and materials to solve production service and support issues
  • Experience with various statistical and quality methodologies including but not limited to Statistical Process Control (SPC), Statistical Quality Control (SQC), 5S, 8D, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Root Cause Analysis, Gage Consistency and Reproducibility (R&R), and Design of Experiments (DOE)
  • Experience working with manufacturing facilities and related equipment
  • Demonstrated experience with practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various products
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Proven knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of products
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to complex production problems
  • Ability to successfully prioritize, and organize projects, deadlines, and tasks with little supervision in both team and independent environments 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate intricate job-related information
