Sr Cost Analyst

Act as the go-to financial expert for a specific substrate family (paper, plastic, foam, etc.), providing accurate, transparent costing and actionable insights to support pricing, product development, and operational decisions. Provide thought leadership on cost drivers, competitive benchmarks, and market dynamics to inform executive decisions.

Day-to-Day Role:

• Act as the company’s senior costing expert for the assigned substrate family, guiding commercial, operations, engineering, and supply chain leaders on cost implications and strategic tradeoffs
• Develop and maintain detailed cost models for assigned substrates and production processes
• Provide costing support for RFQs, NPD initiatives, and business case evaluations
• Partner with operations, procurement, and engineering to validate assumptions and uncover savings opportunities
• Highlight cost/margin risks and opportunities to business and finance leadership
• Support standardization of cost methodologies and ensure consistent reporting across business units
• Apply strong cost modeling, variance analysis, and margin decomposition skills
• Analyze and present on manufacturing process data, yield, waste, and cost drivers
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to inform business decisions
• Proactively investigate cost drivers and performance trends
• Simplify complex cost data for non-financial audiences
• Deliver timely, accurate, and decision-ready insights

Core Skills and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

• Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in finance, accounting, engineering or related field of study
• Experience in complex product costing, plant finance, and/or FP&A
• Experience supporting new product development and margin analysis activities
• Experience presenting analysis findings/conclusions to leadership
• Advanced experience in Excel-based cost modeling
• Experience with SAP
• Solid understanding of standard costing, bill of materials, and manufacturing cost flows
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary in order to explain technical information and results
• Ability to work effectively in a cross functional environment

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

• Experience in complex product costing, plant finance, and/or FP&A, in a manufacturing setting
