Senior Tax Accountant I

We're seeking a Senior Tax Accountant I to play a key role in preparing, reviewing, and filing federal, state, and local tax returns while supporting tax research, technology initiatives, and process improvement efforts. This position offers excellent exposure to complex tax matters and the opportunity to contribute to innovative solutions that enhance efficiency and reporting capabilities.
What You'll Do
As a Senior Tax Accountant I, you will:
- Prepare and file federal, state, and local income and franchise tax returns for assigned entities.
- Prepare tax estimates, extensions, supporting workpapers, and schedules while monitoring filing deadlines.
- Partner with Accounting, Treasury, and other departments to resolve tax-related questions and issues.
- Review fixed assets and prepare tax depreciation reports.
- Prepare and review tax provision schedules included in financial statements.
- Respond to federal and state tax notices, audits, and information requests.
- Compile documentation and support audit inquiries from taxing authorities.
- Research tax compliance and planning matters and provide recommendations.
- Collaborate on technology and data initiatives aimed at streamlining tax processes and reporting.
- Assist in developing automated solutions that improve data flow and reporting accuracy.
- Support departmental projects and cross-functional initiatives as needed.
- Stay current with tax laws and maintain professional certifications through continuing education.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA, Juris Doctor (JD), or Enrolled Agent (EA) credential with unlimited representation rights before the IRS.
- Minimum of two years of public accounting experience, including at least three of the following areas:
- C Corporation taxation
- S Corporation taxation
- Individual taxation
- Partnership taxation
- Trust taxation
- Experience with ProSystem Fx, CorpTax, or similar tax preparation software.
- Experience utilizing tax research and tax provision software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and recommend solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make informed decisions.

An equivalent combination of education, professional credentials, and relevant experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Taxation or a related field.
- Experience preparing tax provisions.
- Experience using Alteryx, Microsoft Power BI, or other data analytics and reporting tools.
