Telecommunications Engineer

We have the ability to hire either a Mid-Level or Senior-Level Telecommunications Engineer.

The Telecommunications Engineer will serve as a technical resource that assists in the planning, installation, ongoing management, and support of Dart’s telecommunication networks and all equipment on the network.  Responsible for the installation and management of upgrades, patches, fixes, and even decommissioning of equipment as required in order to maintain server orders, call flows, trunking and call center administration.

 

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Contribute to telecommunications projects and requests to ensure that tasks are completed to schedule
  • Interpret service orders, circuit diagrams, and electrical schematics
  • Assist with the design, installation and removal of telecommunications equipment at various Dart locations and to Dart standards
  • Verify work order information and receipt of all necessary equipment and information
  • Perform routine testing and adjustments of telecommunications equipment
  • Work with telecommunications service providers to resolve technical issues
  • Perform administrative and asset tracking tasks related to telecommunications and business functionality
  • Monitor telecommunication traffic and report and react to outages as required in order to ensure minimal disruptions to service
  • Perform advanced voice administration tasks including but not limited to troubleshooting and configuration management
  • Assist with the capacity management of voicemail, telecommunication networks, and circuits
  • Document and maintain accurate and complete technical records
  • Ensure confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information; adhere to company security policies, company software licensing policies and practices
  • Mentor other telecommunications team members

 

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal Telecommunications Engineer candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field of study and two (2) years of experience managing call centers or enterprise scale telephone systems, OR
    • High school diploma or equivalent and four (4) years of experience managing call centers or enterprise scale telephone systems
  • One (1) year of experience working with telephone trunk technologies including SIP trunking
  • One (1) year of experience maintaining telecommunications infrastructure
  • One (1) year of experience working with communication vendors and consulting with customers for their communications needs
  • One (1) year of experience configuring, designing, operating and programming of telecommunications and PBX systems such as Avaya and Cisco
  • Experience with international regulations pertaining to call routing

The ideal Senior Telecommunications Engineer candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field of study and four (4) years of experience managing call centers or enterprise scale telephone systems
    • High school diploma or equivalent and six (6) years of experience managing call centers or enterprise scale telephone systems
  • Three (3) years of experience working with telephone trunk technologies including SIP trunking
  • Three (3) years of experience maintaining telecommunications infrastructure
  • Three (3) years of experience working with communication vendors and consulting with customers for their communications needs
  • Three (3) years of experience configuring, designing, operating and programming of telecommunications and PBX systems such as Avaya and Cisco
  • One (1) year of experience with international regulations pertaining to call routing

Additional requirements for both levels:

  • Up to 25% domestic and international travel
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport
  • Requires a favorable motor vehicle report upon hire
  • Availability to be on call 24/7 as part of an on-call rotation
