We are in search of someone that can collaborate with multiple levels of the organization to help create in implement these ideas.

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Take broad conceptual ideas and develop them into useful designs.
  • Complete projects of moderate size, scope, and duration
  • Coordinate the work with other designers or drafters working on the same project
  • Create simple to complex concept layouts with engineering guidance
  • Uses industry knowledge and foresight to develop solutions with broad applicability that minimize the need for future project-related re-design effort
  • Establish system requirements, work with suppliers to obtain information and quotes, and generate specifications
  • Accurately finalize the documentation for the implemented changes
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) with guidance from engineers
  • Utilize CAD software, Teamcenter® PLM system, ERP system, and standard Microsoft® Office software
  • Develop knowledge of processes, equipment, and raw materials
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, identify, evaluate and implement design-led solutions to challenging problems
  • Receive and review straight-forward system requirements, work with suppliers to obtain information and quotes, and generate specifications
  • Collaborate with engineering and other departments to improve equipment, processes, and products
  • Participate in the review of documentation packages for release to manufacturing
  • Mentor other designers and drafters

 

Core Skills & Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for both levels must possess all of the following:

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Experience with applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Understanding of engineering drawing and principles
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to successfully prioritize, and organize projects, deadlines, and tasks with little supervision in both team and independent environments
  • Strong verbal and written skills necessary to communicate intricate job-related information
  • Understanding and application of decimals and fractions
  • Ability to learn how to use software and systems such as Teamcenter® PLM system and SAP
  • Up to 25% domestic and international travel
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license and passport

The ideal candidate for the Associate level must possess all of the following:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree with design related coursework, OR
    • Associate's degree with design related coursework and four (4) years of drafting and/or design experience, OR
    • High school diploma or equivalent and seven (7) years of drafting and/or design experience
  • Experience with applying and interpreting Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Understanding of engineering drawing and principles

The ideal candidate for the Mid-level must possess all of the following:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in design or related field of study and two (2) years of drafting and/or design experience, OR
    • Associate's degree with design-related coursework and six (6) years of drafting and/or design experience, OR
    • High school diploma or equivalent and nine (9) years of drafting and/or design experience
  • Understanding of materials and manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models

The ideal candidate for the Senior level must possess all of the following:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in design or related field of study and four (4) years of drafting and/or design experience, OR
    • Associate's degree with design-related coursework and eight (8) years of drafting and/or design experience, OR
    • High school diploma or equivalent and eleven (11) years of drafting and/or design experience
  • Good working knowledge of various materials such as plastic, metal, and/or paper, their properties, and applicability to achieving design objectives
  • Good familiarity with common manufacturing and fabrication methodologies and the capabilities/limitations of those processes for producing forms and shapes and with varying degrees of precision and repeatability
  • Demonstrated ability to devise creative and innovative design solutions that maximize performance and profitability
  • Advanced knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Tool design experience
