Dart Container in Owensboro, KY is looking for our next Field Support Technician

 

As a Field Support Technician you will support and maintain technology equipment and Information Technology (IT) assets. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all PC related hardware and software to ensure optimal workstation performance. You will also troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via e-mail) in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user assistance where required. 

 

Available shift: 7:00am - 3:30pm 

 

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user workstation hardware, networked peripheral devices, and networking hardware products, ensuring all setup parameters meet corporate standards
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot associated end user workstation software and networking software products, ensuring all setup parameters meet corporate standards
  • Perform analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of PC problems either on-site or via remote access. Make recommendations and implement corrective hardware solutions, including off-site repair as needed
  • Receive and respond to incoming calls, help desk tickets, and/or e-mails regarding PC and/or hardware problems
  • Configure and support mobile devices
  • Perform minor structured wiring repairs and punch downs
  • Communicate with internal customers via email to keep them apprised on the status of requests
  • Provide training and support to end users and staff on computer operation and other issues
  • Conduct research on computer products in support of PC procurement and development efforts
  • Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future computer hardware needs
  • Maintain accurate records of projects, tasks, and time spent by utilizing the appropriate IT software
  • Accurately document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal
  • Ensure confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information
  • Adhere to company software licensing and security policies and practices 
  • Willing and able to operate and preform work in a Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) or Aerial Lift at heights of 30 feet or more at least twice per month. 
  • Willing and able to routinely be in an on-call rotation with other employees within the depatment. 

 

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • High School Diploma/Equivalent
  • Three (3) years of work experience providing computer support
  • Technical certification (i.e. A+ certification) or computer support training gained through formal education
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in order to clearly explain options and solutions to end-users
  • Good interpersonal skills, with a focus on listening and questioning skills
  • Ability to work productively in a team environment
  • Ability to interact professionally with staff, internal/external customers, and management
  • Ability to maintain composure when faced with stressful situations
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and Outlook)
  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues 

 

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Computer Support, Networking or related field
  • Familiarity with desktop operating systems including Windows, OS X
  • Familiarity with mobile operating systems
  • A+ Certification
  • Computer support work experience in a business and plant environment
