Truck Maintenance Supervisor

Dart Container is looking for a Truck Maintenance Supervisor to join our team in Plant City, Florida. In this role, you will be responsible for supervising all facets of our automotive mechanic operations. You will supervise the Truck Maintenance Shop in completing and overseeing maintenance and repairs of our fleet of tractors and trailers to ensure they are on the road and helping deliver products and materials to our customers in a timely manner.  

Day to Day Role:

  • Proactively seek and identify problems that need to be resolved and quantify the anticipated benefits of problem resolution
  • Apply knowledge of mechanical fundamentals, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair to vehicle fleet operation
  • Manages equipment repair and oversees the correction of problems with tools, machinery and other standard technical equipment
  • Provide classroom instruction and hands-on training as needed to Mechanics to ensure compliance to regulations, Dart’s policies, procedures, and safety culture
  • Oversee and ensure mechanic performance is in accordance with regulatory requirements and Dart guidelines
  • Lead by example to promote and encourage employees to strongly commit to safety, policies and Dart practices

Core Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Requires one of the following:
    • High School diploma (or equivalent) with seven (7) years of industry experience working on both diesel and gas engines
    • Associate's degree with five (5) years of industry experience working on both diesel and gas engines
  • One (1) year of supervisory experience required with strong leadership and management skills 
  • Valid Class A CDL (Commercial Driver License) and favorable driving record upon hiring and ability to maintain throughout duration of employment
  • Must meet all requirements to be Power Industrial Truck Operations (PITO) certified
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment and scan tools
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) skills to include the ability to open, close, create, edit and save documents
  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time domestically
  • You must be able to provide your own tools for this role
  • Willingness to work additional hours including weekends, holidays and on-call as required

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Associate degree with an emphasis in Vehicle Maintenance, Automotive Technology, Diesel Technology, or related field of study
  • One (1) year of tractor-trailer driving experience
