Earn anywhere from $36,025.6 to $60,000+ as a Maintenance Mechanic at Dart Container! (Compensation will vary based on individual knowledge, skills, and abilities.)


The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for a wide variety of performing routine maintenance tasks on production machines including troubleshooting, repairs and preventative maintenance. This position must maintain compliance with all legal, safety, and quality regulations as prescribed by law, regulatory affiliates, and company policy.


Day-to-Day Role:

  • Follow specifications of blueprints, manuals, and schematic drawings to install, maintain, and repair equipment, machinery, physical structures, and plumbing/electrical systems.
  • Inspect, measure, and test equipment while in operation visually (using electrical and electronic equipment) and auditory (listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment) to detect malfunction, wear, misalignment, or other problems. Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
  • Discuss/diagnose machine problems with Maintenance Supervisor, Production Supervisor, Production Superintendent, Plant Manager, or other maintenance workers. Inform appropriate management personnel of equipment and parts needs.
  • Clean and lubricate shaft, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Install and repair electrical apparatus, such as transformers, wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • Layout, assemble, install, and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment. Repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment
  • Install, program, and repair automated machinery and equipment, such as robots or programmable controllers.
  • Set up and operate machine tools, such as lathe, grinder, drill and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts. 
  • Perform OEM specific control system troubleshooting skills.
  • Repair and maintain the physical structure of the establishment and perform preventative maintenance functions.
  • Assist production personnel in change-over and set-up procedures. Help plant machinist in fabricating parts as required.
  • Attend safety classes/seminars as periodically scheduled.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by direct supervisor, and/or plant management.


Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed. 
  • Three (3) years of mechanical experience in a manufacturing environment or more is required. Similar experience outside of manufacturing may be considered based on individual knowledge, skills, and abilities in areas of mechanical pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems.
  • Demonstrate moderate knowledge of mechanical pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems as they pertain to manufacturing machines and equipment.
  • Ability to diagnose problems, analyze data, and trouble-shoot manufacturing equipment
  • Experience working with computer programs that support preventative maintenance programs
  • Project management skills preferred
