Lead Production Support

Responsible for performing a wide variety of duties to assist in maintaining department efficiencies at maximum output levels. Work with Department Supervisor and support all assigned personnel and equipment requirements during their respective shift. While performing the duties listed below, the lead is required to spend 85% of time on the production floor.


Day-to-Day Role:


  • Assist in start-up, shut down, checking, and troubleshooting of lines. Set up the operators daily to make sure all lines are properly covered. Conduct quality checks, correct deficiencies, and initiate quality audits as necessary. 
  • Promote and exhibit a commitment to safety, while ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Check all products in the department to ensure quality product is being produced. Ensure adequate amounts of material are in the department to maintain production.
  • Coordinate with Department Supervisor to review and maintain production schedules to ensure resources are available to meet schedule. Ensure that accurate production information is reported and the appropriate paperwork is completed and turned in.
  • Audit the floor as required by Leader Standard Work, monitor productivity metrics, verify adherence to procedures and standard work, correct deficiencies and escalate to supervisor as necessary.
  • Communicate with oncoming shifts about any problems or issues that are occurring. Work with other departments to maintain or improve communications.
  • Notify supervisor immediately and recommend solutions if there are issues that will prevent achievement of efficiency goals.
  • Perform routine production duties in support of shift requirements.
  • Actively support Operational Excellence and effectively manage the lean processes within the operation.
  • Train new employees, and perform ongoing training to ensure that all assigned employees have knowledge of, understanding, and adhere to product safety rules and maintain product quality.
  • Provide feedback to the supervisor on employee performance and day-to-day actions and activities.
  • Accurately observes performance to provide constructive feedback to employees, as well as opportunities for improvement in a timely manner.
  • Participate in small group improvement teams.
  • Perform other duties as directed.


Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues
  • At least two (2) years’ relevant experience ( replace with department i.e. Quality, etc.) working in a fast-paced work environment
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Must wear PPE (Personal Protection Equipment)


Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s
  • Previous experience in a Lead role
