Maintenance Supervisor

Oversee the upkeep of production equipment for safe operation by scheduling and execution of preventive, predictive and reactive maintenance on department machinery. Assist and work under the direction of the Department Production Manager.

 

Day-to-Day Role:

  • Follow practices and processes intended to provide safe products that comply with appropriate laws and regulations, meet the company quality standards, and serve the needs of our customers.  This includes a commitment to a process of continuous improvement
  • Ensure Dart Container's goals specific to:  Safety, Quality, Service, Efficiency and Employee Development
  • Fair and equal treatment of all employees with regard to all aspects of employment, regardless of any protected characteristics
  • Coordinate the efforts of all reports (Lead Maintenance, Mechanics, Electrician/Electronic Techs and Specialists) on the shift
  • Coordinate with production supervisors on machine downtime to schedule preventive maintenance
  • Coordinate with production supervisors and production planning any tooling changes and equipment installations
  • Take daily attendance, schedule personnel on specific lines and coordinate lunch and rest breaks
  • Conduct performance evaluations to include wage reviews of employees
  • Understand, support and follow Leadership Expectations and VCPs
  • Perform other duties within the employee’s training and skills as directed by the Production Manager
  • Supervise, cross-train and direct the work of others
  • Responsible for employee onboarding, coaching/counseling, development, discipline, performance appraisals, administration of policies and assignment of breaks, lunches, and other relief periods
  • Make recommendations regarding staffing decisions
  • Conduct or participate in the interview process with new candidates

 

Core Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess all of the following:

  • Two (2) years supervisory experience with demonstrated strong leadership and management skills
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Three (3) years of maintenance experience
  • Three (3) years of experience in a production environment 
  • Demonstration of minimum proficiency with the English language in order to ensure effective new hire training and on-going communications about safety and quality issues
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including the ability to create basic reports, documents, presentations and spreadsheets in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint
  • Displays strong interpersonal skills and is accessible and approachable
  • Strong communication skills in order to clearly explain options and solutions to end-users
  • Ability to be on-call 24/7 and work weekends
  • Work is split between an office environment, production facility, and/or warehouse 
  • Exposure to extreme heat, loud noise, dirt, dust, odors, and fumes is probable
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in required areas 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of experience with schematics, blueprints, and electrical drawings
  • Associates or bachelor’s degree
  • SAP experience
  • Lean manufacturing experience
